In-house installation

We will come to your home and install Linux on your computer either as a stand-alone system or as an additional option when you turn on your computer. This way you can choose each time if you want Linux or Windows. Many Windows-based software applications can also be configured to run on your Linux system. That means you may not even have to restart if you want to use a certain Windows application. We will also move over all your personal data from Windows to Linux.

You will get a two hour tutorial to familiarize you with your new operating system. In addition you will get two weeks of telephone and e-mail support, and one free in-house support visit, should you really need it. See below for our extended support options.

That’s right. We are confident that our systems will not break. Of course, there are a few rules attached to this guarantee:

• This guarantee is valid as long as you own the system that we installed Linux on. You do not need to buy an extended support plan.
• Only offer this guarantee to computers in the Washington Metro Area.
• This guarantee does not apply if you run as “root” (sometimes known as “Administrator”) all the time. Linux systems are designed to run as a normal user, not as “root”. You can still use the “root” user to install new software or updates, but you should not use it for your day–to–day computing.
• We cannot be responsible for the stability of your system if you go outside of your package manager to install software. The package manager comes with thousands of applications that we support, but if you bring in applications from outside that list and install them and it results in a broken system, we cannot be held responsible for that. If you desire an application that is not available via synaptic or your package management system, email us and we will help you get it installed.
• Hardware failure is not covered by this guarantee. After all, we are installing Linux on your hardware, not our hardware.

  You get Linux CDs, a thorough installation guide and one week telephone support. It really is easy to install but should you run into trouble, we will be happy to walk you through it over the phone. Ideal for those not afraid to install a new operating system.
